"It had been going well in the last session until I was attacked from behind by Villeneuve. Up to that point, we had improved the balance and grip of the Tyrrell significantly, particularly after we fitted the last set of Goodyear "Primes", and I was feeling quite comfortable. I remain optimistic, though, and I'm sure we can go faster."

Квалификация (суббота):
"I am very disappointed not to have made the cut because I had gone well in the practise sessions and we were getting the chassis set up more to my liking. I had very bad brake locking in my final run of the afternoon and flat-spotted the front tyres. They locked up again as I returned to the pits and the back of the car snapped away from me. The team is appealing to the Stewards and I am hopeful they will let me race tomorrow."
